From Galway I biked north into the Connamara region, known as one of the most scenic parts of Ireland. I spent one night at a hostel in Cliffden, and then moved on to Letterfrack. I wasn’t sure what to expect of Letterfrack. I wanted to go mostly because there was a hostel that you could camp at, which is my preferred style of accomodation. The village was smaller than I expected, but quite intriguing nonetheless. Letterfrack is home to both Connamara National Park (beautiful), and the Furniture College. It is a college dedicated to designing and manufacturing furniture. I visited the furniture exhibition of stuff designed by the graduating class, saw some examples of tricky challenges in furniture restoration, and visited the library (one of the few in the world to dedicate a whole section to Irish furniture).
